Regretfully, a favorite teacher of many passed away last Friday. Dr. Delo Lee, Jr. taught biology at Burke from 1989-1999. He was also the sponsor for SEA and Judo Club .
Dr. Lee taught judo to OPS kids for decades at Norris and had tons of kids go through programs at Burke. He single-handedly kept a ton of fights from happening because kids knew if they fought they were out of the program.

Dr. Lee was a 7th degree Black Belt while at Burke and taught Judo and Jujitsu. Many also took classes with him at night at the Omaha Taekwondo Judo Center.

He rose to 9th degree black belt. At the time of his promotion in 2018, there were 5, 9th degrees in the world. To explain how big a deal this is… there have only ever been 15 10th degree black belts in Judo since the founding of the sport in 1882. It is estimated that there have been less than 1,000 9th degrees since 1882. Dr. Lee was also inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame with Chuck Norris.
