Wendy Willour Boyer – class of 1978
After graduating from Burke High School in 1978, Wendy graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1982, and a M.S. in Educational Administration in 1991. Wendy began her career as an elementary teacher and educational administrator in the Omaha Public Schools, serving at Mount View, Boyd, and Marrs Elementary Schools. In 1998, Wendy left the school system to join Mutual of Omaha as manager of Corporate Learning, where she helped develop a Corporate University focusing on Leadership Development and led an effort to develop a corporate-wide eLearning platform for associates to access training and education. In 2005, Wendy joined the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and served as Sr. Vice President of Community Investment and Advocacy. In her role, Wendy led efforts to help enable economic growth and development in the region. She also led the Chamber’s public policy and advocacy efforts and catalyzed the non-profit, Heartland Workforce Solutions, which functions as the regional workforce development system.
Wendy is currently the Executive Director of the Peter Kiewit Foundation where she works to support efforts across Nebraska to build strong and vibrant communities where people can achieve educational and economic success and enjoy a high quality of life. In her free time, Wendy serves on several community and non-profit boards and she and her husband Jeff, both life-long residents of Nebraska, enjoy spending time with family and friends at their lake home near Ashland, NE.
