Jeana (Seitzinger) Goosmann – Class of 1995

Author, attorney, speaker, and CEO Jeana Goosmann is the CEO’s Attorney and personally acts as general counsel to company presidents, CEOs, corporate executives, business owners, and business leaders. As the Founder, CEO and Managing Partner of the Goosmann Law Firm, she knows what it takes to start a business and grow it from the ground up. Jeana’s a lawyer who thinks like a CEO and business owner because she’s lived it, been there, and gets it.  Jeana and her legal team help business leaders win disputes, protect their wealth and do deals.  The Firm has repeatedly been named one of the fastest growing law firms in the United States by Law Firm 500.

Jeana has represented clients on Forbe’s billionaire’s list, Senators in trial, and companies involved in anti-trust class action, toxic tort, business fraud, piercing the corporate veil, adversary proceedings, mass product recall, breach of contract, explosion litigation and business torts.

Jeana is a Burke High class of 1995 graduate.  While at Burke, Jeana was a cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, Spanish club, and graduated with top honors.  Jeana remembers Ms. Butel her honors English teacher repeating to show your analysis in your writing by using the word “because.”  She credits that advice to later achieving top marks in law school.  Jeana also recalls learning to use Excel from Mr. Schwartz in honors science and credits this skill to her success in finance.  Above all else, the fierce competition to become a cheerleader impacted Jeana’s drive and determination and she vividly recalls practicing for hours and tryout day where you went to the school to see if your name made the list out of the dozens of girls that tried out.   Jeana made many great friends and memories at Burke.

The Burke High academic competition with class rankings also set her up for success.   Jeana put herself through college at the University of Nebraska on academic and leadership scholarships.  Jeana was the President of the Alpha Omnicron Pi Sorority, founder and president of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-law fraternity, and member of mortar board.  In 1999, Jeana graduated with highest distinction from the business college with a degree in management.  She also partnered with the University of Nebraska as the first business student out of the entrepreneurship program to obtain a patent on her invention the retainer maintainer container.  Next, Jeana earned a full academic scholarship to Creighton University School of Law where she graduated summa cum laude in 2002 and served as an editor of the law review.

Along with her formal education, Jeana graduated from Dartmouth University’s Tuck Education Pro- gram for Chief Executive Officers in 2016 where she joined other women executives in learning tools for business success.

Jeana is the author of the Amazon best selling book, Worth It, which teaches her RED Philosophy – Ready, Execute, Deliver. She has also contributed as an author of Marketing Success: How Did She Do That?, published by the American Bar Association in 2015, and has been published in The Woman Advocate and the ABA Corporate Counsel news. Jeana also writes the CEO Law Review blog and hosts the Law Talk with the Flock podcast.

She is a prolific speaker achieving top marks and has been a national and state presenter at conferences including the BE WORTH IT Conference, American Bar Association, Annual Midwestern Bankruptcy Institute Conference, National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms, and State Bar Association.

Jeana has also been active in her community.  She’s served as the President of the Sioux City Art Association, on the board of Girls Inc., chairperson of United Way Women United, on the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce Board, and is a current Executive Board Member of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa.

Jeana’s leadership and hard work over the past 25 years has not gone unnoticed.  Jeana’s been selected as a Lifetime Member of America’s Top 100 Attorneys by America’s Top 100; selected as a Member of the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel; and as one of America’s Top 100 Bet-The-Company Litigators.

In 2021, Jeana was named the Enterprising Woman of the Year after being nominated by the Women Business National Certification Council for her leadership of the largest woman owned law firm in the Midwest.  That got Jeana noticed by the national media and this year Jeana’s been featured on the national PBS TV show, ViewPoint with Dennis Quaid.   She also received a fellowship and attended the Harvard Business School Program on Leading Business in June 2023.

In 2000, Jeana married Chadd Goosmann in Sioux City, Iowa.  They love to travel together and have spent time in Maui, Naples, Florida and Italy and their lake home in Okoboji with their family.  In 2015, Jeana was honored to be an American Delegate to the 800-year celebration of Magna Carta with the Barristers and Her Majesty the Queen of England at Runnymede.  Together they have two children, Collin, 12, and Caroline, 10.   They live in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota.
