Brad Ericson – A Life of Service and Dedication
Brad Ericson is a retired military leader, skilled electrician, devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather. With more than three decades of service to his craft and community, Brad exemplifies integrity, hard work, and a heart for others.
At Burke High School, Brad was active in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), football, and track, and he especially enjoyed volunteering at the State Track Meet each year. After briefly studying Architectural Engineering at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, he discovered his true calling in the trades. Guided by his father, Brad began his career as an electrician and joined Local Union #22 in 1989. Over the next 16 years, he contributed to the construction of schools and hospitals across the region.
Brad later joined Omaha Public Power District, where he continues to serve as a Substation Electrician, helping ensure reliable energy for eastern Nebraska. His leadership extended beyond his role—he served three years as President of the Electrical Support Board and has remained deeply involved in community service through OPPD initiatives.
A proud Burke Bulldog, Brad is a founding member of the Burke High School Alumni Association, serving on the Board of Directors since 2015 and leading as President for four years. His commitment to students and alumni has been instrumental in the association’s success. In addition, he served as President of Burke Baseball operations for three years and contributed his time to the Burke PTO.
Brad’s dedication to service extends to his church, where he leads security operations at First Covenant Church. He is also deeply committed to education and mentorship, continually seeking ways to invest in the next generation.
Family is at the center of Brad’s life. Married for 36 years to his high school sweetheart, Carrie Haney (Burke Class of 1985), he is the proud father of Ashley (Burke Class of 2011) and Andrew (Burke Class of 2015). Today, he and Carrie cherish their role as grandparents to six grandchildren, supporting them in their activities and enjoying time together outdoors—especially entertaining friends and family on their boat.
For Brad, life is grounded in purpose and faith. He lives by the belief that service is not only a responsibility but also a calling:
“We were not put on this Earth by our Creator to merely indulge in our own satisfaction. We are expected to teach and assist the next generation in growth and mentoring.”
